CLAT Syllabus: A Comprehensive Subject-wise Guide

Jun 21, 2023

The UG-CLAT 2023 is designed to assess candidates’ comprehension and reasoning skills, focusing on aptitude and abilities required for a legal education rather than prior knowledge. However, some prior knowledge may prove helpful in the Current Affairs section.

In the UG-CLAT 2023, you will face a 2-hour test consisting of 150 multiple-choice questions, each carrying 1 mark. It’s important to note that there will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer. The questions will be distributed among the following 5 subjects:

  • English Language:
  • Current Affairs, including General Knowledge
  • Legal Reasoning
  • Logical Reasoning
  • Quantitative Techniques

Preparing strategically for each of these subjects will greatly improve your chances of success in the UG-CLAT 2023. Focus on building your comprehension, reasoning, and aptitude skills while staying updated with current affairs and legal knowledge.

The questions may include an examination of legal information or knowledge discussed in or related to the passage, but would not require any additional knowledge of the law beyond the passage.

Each passage will be followed by a series of questions that will require you to demonstrate your awareness of various aspects of current affairs and general knowledge, including:

  • Contemporary events of significance from India and the world;
  • Arts and culture;
  • International affairs; and
