Changes in CUET 2025

See Complete information about CUET in this video below.

The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) 2025 has undergone several significant changes introduced by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to streamline and enhance the examination process. Below is an overview of these key modifications:

  1. Examination Mode
  • Transition to Computer-Based Testing (CBT): CUET 2025 will be conducted exclusively in an online format, moving away from the previous hybrid model. This change aims to provide a more efficient and standardized testing experience. (Times of India)
  1. Subject Offerings
  • Reduction in Subjects: The number of subjects has been reduced from 63 to 37. This includes 13 languages and 23 domain-specific subjects. (Times of India)
  • Elimination of Certain Subjects: Subjects such as Fashion Studies, Tourism Studies, Legal Studies, Teaching Aptitude, Entrepreneurship, and Engineering Graphics have been removed. Admissions for these areas will now be based on the General Aptitude Test (GAT) scores. (Times of India)
  1. Subject Selection Flexibility
  • Cross-Disciplinary Choices: Candidates are now permitted to select subjects irrespective of their Class 12 specializations, allowing for greater academic flexibility. (Times of India)
  1. Examination Duration and Structure
  • Standardized Duration: Each subject exam will have a uniform duration of 60 minutes, standardizing the testing time across all subjects. (Times of India)
  • Mandatory Questions: All questions in the exam are now compulsory, with no optional questions provided. This change ensures a uniform assessment for all candidates. (Times of India)
  1. Subject Selection Limit
  • Reduced Number of Choices: Candidates can now select up to five subjects, a reduction from the previous allowance of six. This aims to encourage focused preparation and reduce examination complexity. (Times of India)
  1. General Aptitude Test (GAT)
  • Renaming and Scope: The General Test has been renamed as the General Aptitude Test. For subjects that have been removed, admissions will now depend on scores from the GAT, which assesses general knowledge, reasoning abilities, and quantitative skills. (Times of India)

These changes reflect the UGC’s commitment to creating a more streamlined, fair, and flexible admission process for students across India.
